Eddie Brock

Diagnosed with cancer, Eddie Brock went to writing to soothe his pain. As a reporter forthe Daily Globe, he wrote about the Sin Eater story. The villain was a killer who wanted to clear the city of sins. When he received a tip that a civilian might be the Sin-Eater, he printed it on the paper. This was a huge story at the time, as nobody knew who the bad guy was. Feeling proud of the story, he was brought back down to Earth when Spidey captured the real Sin-Eater. Brock went nuts and lost his job. Not only that, but his father Carol disowned him (again) and his wife Anne Weying left him. Everything was going wrong in his life. Having seen his uncle perish slowly from cancer, he knew he didn't want die that way; he decided to take his own life.

The symbiote's story is a long one. Having come from Planet X, a planet that was destroyed by Galactus, it fled to another one, a very special one. The planet was chosen by the omnipotent being known as The Beyonder to house the ultimate battle between good and evil. The being snatched heroes like the X-Men, the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Hulk and Spider-Man to fight against Dr. Doom, Galactus, Dr. Octopus, Lizard, Enchantress, Absorbing Man, Molecule Man, Klaw and many others. After a fight where Spidey's costume took a beating, he enocuntered several heroes which would produce a costume out of thin air if you thought about it. Spidey went to the wrong machine, and suddenly, the symbiote covered him and became the black costume. When the heroes had dfeated Doom, they all returned to Earth, and Spidey had his new costume with him. He wore it for several months, enjoying that it produced organic webbing and could mimic his civilian clothes. After talking to Reed Richards, Peter discovered that the costume was a living entity. Richards had the symbiote imprisoned, but during an attempt by The Trapster to infiltrate Freedom Plaza, the symbiote escaped. It attempted to force Peter to accept it again , but couldn't, so Peter tried to kill the symbiote by using the noise of a church bell tower. The plan worked and the symbiote saved the Wall Crawler's life before hiding itself in the church, waiting for someone to save itself.
Eddie Brock, fearing death, went to Church one night to ask the Lord for forgiveness for what he was about to do. Fate had brought him to the same church where Spider-Man had defeated the symbiote. The symbiote felt Brock's hatred towards Spidey and soon bonded together with Brock to became 'Venom.' Not only that, but being together caused Brock to receive an extension on his life due to the symbiote feeding on his heightened adrenaline (which it was attracted to in Spider-Man). However, if the symbiote ever left Brock to go back to Spider-Man, the ex-reporter would surely die from cancer.
While Brock wanted the symbiote, it only wanted revenge at Parker, and used Brock to get back at its former host. The symbiote fed on adrenaline, which Peter had a lot of whenever his spider-sense turned on, and Brock to (although, not as much) as a result of taking medication for his cancer. Brock has always known that the symbiote has been using him, which only intensifies his hatred towards Spider-Man.
Venom wasn't a hero or a villain, he was a vigilante. He would hurt or kill all those whom he thinks are guilty. He only hurt people who comitted crimes. He's never hurt anyone who is innocent. Venom strongly believes that Spider-Man is guilty for ruining Venom's lives.
They tested out their new found powers when they pushed Peter Parker onto a moving train. Peter survived, but everything went well in Venom's plan. He suceeded in making sure that the symbiote is able negate Spidey's Spider-Sense. Then, a few weeks later, Peter was clibing a building, and Venom grabbed his foot and Peter fell. Once again, Venom was succesful in making sure his spider sense was useless towards Spidey.
It was then time to strike full and center. With the knowledge of the symbiote, Venom decided to terrify Mary Jane by appearing in front of her and making her think it was Peter. She then told this story to Peter, and he immediately thought of the symbiote. Spidey tracked down Venom and the two fought a hellacious battle, until Spidey remembered that he can separate the symbiote with the help of a sonic gun. So Spidey went to FF Tower, got the gun and defeated Venom. The 'Lethal Protector' was sent to the Vault.
Despite escaping the Vault and paying frequent visits to Mary Jane, the Black Cat and even aunt May, Venom couldn't defeat Spider-Man. At one point, Brock was sent to prison and the symbiote was someplace else. In prison, Brock's cellmate was mass serial killer Cletus Kasady. Then when the symbiote found Brock, the spawn of the symbiote bonded with Kasady. They became 'Carnage'. Peter managed to make Venom believe that Peter himself was dead, so feeling that he had accomplished his goal, Venom 'retired'.
It wasn't until that Spider-Man discovered the existance of Carnage that he sought after Venom's help. Along with the Human Torch, Spider-Man got Venom's trust and the weird duo went off to face Carnage. They defeated Carnage but Spidey double-crossed Venom and they were both taken into captivity.
Months later, Spider-Man got Brock's ex-wife to convince Venom to stop killing and hurting people, it didn't work, but Venom left New York only if pidey promised never to interfere in his life again. But just several weeks later, the biggest killing spree in New York history took place. It was 'Maximum Carnage'. Carnage, Shriek, Carrion, Demogoblin and the Spidey doppelganger killed thousands of people. So Venom heard about this and returned to NY. With the help of Venom, Captain America, Firestar, Cloak & Dagger and others, Spidey managed to defeat the villains.
Venom would then wander around and he'd run into many adventures. Then one day, he'd meet the new hero, the Scarlet Spider. The new hero did something that Spidey had never done, soundly defeat Venom.
From there, more adventures would come his way. Then a special goverment agency "hires" Venom to kill J, Jonah Jameson, because JJJ has been snooping around on anti-mutant and Presidential candidate Greydon Creed and his friend, Bastion. When Venom is close to capturing him, Spidey makes the save. The hero fights Venom, until Spider-Man pulls a piece of concrete from the high-rise which falls then detonates smoldering dynamite behind Venom. Venom is knocked out; he has selected amnesia. The two are separated once more.
Venom goes to Carnage's cell at the Vault and 'absorbs' his 'son' in order to punish him for his deeds. He would later join the Sinister Six, along with Kraven II, Electro, Sandman, Vulture and Mysterio III in order to get revenge on Doctor Octopus. Venom would betray them and hunt them down one-by-one. He would even manage to almost fatally kill the Sandman.
A few months later, the symbiote finds its way towards an amnesiac Brock. With the two reuinted, Brock remembers his hatred towards Spider-Man, but he does not remember his identity. That is only fueled when his ex-wife Ann Weying commits suicide because she fears the symbiote too much.
Senator Ward manages to separate the symbiote and Brock for a long time. During this time, Brock believes that his 'soul' (the symbiote) has forever left him. The symbiote refuses to help a dying Brock, since it is pregnant and it wants Spidey's adrenaline in order to care for both of them. Spidey manages to save Brock's life by merging him with the symbiote once more. Now Venom is more lethal than ever, and wants revenge.

Roderick Kingsley

When a small time crook would accidently find the hideout of the Green Goblin under an Osborn Chemical plant, he sold that information to a mystery man with an interest in conquering the criminal underworld. By changing the Goblin's costume, the mystery man became the Hobgoblin.
He immediately tried to take out Spider-Man. He failed miserably. He wondered how a mere business man like Osborn could sustain many close fights with Spider-Man, so he assumed that Osborn had some sort of powers which he may have gained. So he started raiding some Osborn plants or hideouts, and he found one piece of information. He made his own version of the formula, but instead of testing it on himself, he used it on a crook named Arnold 'Lefty' Donovan firstly. Donovan would dress-up as the Hobgoblin and fight Spidey. Kingsley, fearing that Donovan might tell Spidey of his scret identity, killed "Lefty". It was time for Kingsley to take the formula himself.

Kingsley took just enough so it won't make him mad like it did to Osborn. With his new found powers, he still failed to beat Spider-Man, but he faired better this time than he did in the first encounter. Around this time, the Hobgoblin had an assitant in Roderick Kingsley (a rich businessman who owns the modeling firm Kingsley Limited).
In a meeting of all of NY's elite and most recognized business men (JJJ, Harry Osborn, Roderick Kingsley, Wilson Fisk among others), the Hobgoblin would hold them in captivity and attempt to blackmail them all. With the files of Norman Osborn, the Hobgoblin was able to uncover some dirty secrets from each of those men. Then, Spidey would intervene and would battle him all the way to the Hudson River, where while swimming there, Spidey finds the Hobgoblin mask floating around but he doesn't find a body.
The villain managed to get out of the water and hide among the homeless. While going to a hide-out, Hobby found out that he was being followed by Daily Bugle reporter Ned Leeds. He then brainwashed Leeds into thinking that he was the Hobgoblin and even adopt the identity once in a while. From there, Hobby would use Leeds's friendship with Richard Fisk (the villain known as the Rose) so he can ally himself with the Rose in order to overthrow the Kingpin as the main crime-lord of NY. The Rose had Roderick Kingsley and Captain Keating (a police captain) as allies.
When the Hobgoblin captures Sha Shan, Flash Thompson's girlfriend, out of pure luck, she is taken to the hospital. There, Flash gives his comments about the Hobgoblin on TV, he tells the public that the villain is a coward. Hobby, watching this on TV, gets furious and decides to frame Thompson. A few hours later, the villain would fight Spidey, there Hobby would put a Hobby costume on an unconcsious Flash and have him arrested by Spider-Man. The plan worked.
By that time, Hobby was bored from crime and he decided to retire and move to Europe. When he found out that the Jack 'O Lantern (Jason Macendale) wanted to kill the Hobgoblin, he figured that the time was right to kill off Ned. Hobby gave information that Ned needed as a reporter to complete a story, so Ned would be sent to Germany and Hobby would have leaked Ned's "double life" to some men like the Kingpin. This information fell into the hands of Macendale. Macendale would have Ned killed for revenge.
Right after Ned's death, the Rose sent some of his men to kill Captain Keating and Roderick Kingsley. Keating died but Kingsley wasn't hurt badly. Hobby went to Europe, and didn't even think to become the villain until the day of the Macendale trial. You see, Spidey finally captured him, he was put on trial. Macendale, right after being sentenced for life in prison, mentioned to the press that he had Ned Leeds, who he thought was the original Hobgoblin, killed. This was the first time that Leeds' involvement as the Hobgoblin was made public knowledge. This infuriated Roderick. He decided to, first of all, kill Macendale. From there, Hobby got help from his old friend Roderick Kingsley who reluctantly helped the villain. The villain would kidnap Betty Brant, but Spidey would save her as usual. Spidey caught Hobby and unmasked him; it was Roderick Kingsley) ! Betty then uncovered that the Roderick Kingsley that was in the same room was none other than Daniel Kingsley, Roderick's identical twin brother.
We found out that Roderick used Daniel to participate in some formal events in order not to be suspected as the Hobgoblin. Roderick Kingsley was taken to the Vault.
When he found out that Norman Osborn was still alive, he coaxed his way out of prison, claiming that he had proof that Osborn is GG. Osborn and his new GG kidnapped Kingsley. When Osborn found out that Kingsley was lying about having the proof, he managed to amalgamate Kingsley Limited with Osborn Industries. When all three villains had managed to capture Spider-Man, Osborn and Kinglsey got into a fight, in which Spidey managed to get away. A fire broke out, and everyone got away. Osborn and his new GG escaped, while keeping Osborn's reputation in tact, and Kingsley escaped to a Caribbean Island, where he has "retired" once again.

Otto Octavius

Other than being a great and noted scientist, Octavius not only was the first person to defeat Spider-Man, but he almost married aunt May! His relationship with the lady began when Doc Ock and his Sinister Six kidnapped May and Betty Brant, but May never suspected that Ock was a criminal. Later on as Ock was hiding from the law, he decided to answer an ad in the paper which May put out in an attempt to get a new roomate. After a brief stay, Peter found out about this, and took out the villain, all the while May believed that Ock was the good guy. Years after, the old lady inherited an island that contained a nuclear processing plant, and since Ock wanted to own it, he tried to marry the owner. The two almost got married, but naturally Spider-Man saved the day. While Ock didn't care for May and thought she was stupid, her innocence started to grow on him. He became close to her and tried to befriend her by visitng her one Christmas.

He would later become one of Spidey's most dealiest foes, as he forced Spider-Man to briefly retire in his first days as a super-hero. Ock was also the first villain to unmask Spidey (he did it in front of JJJ and Betty), but when Ock found out that it was a teenage Peter Parker, he didn't believe it (nor did JJJ or Betty). Peter explained that he dressed up as Spidey to save Betty's life (which everyone believed). Many years later, he'd die at the hands of the clone known as Kaine. Right before he died, he unmasked Spidey and cured the hero from a fatal virus. But later, he would be revived by the mystical group known as the Hand and Ock wouldn't remember Spidey's ID. He has recently teamed-up with the mind-altering Fusion to gain a top-secret government technology which would track down Spider-Man via his radiation signature. While he played the part of the lackey, he was truly ready to stab Fusion in the back to gain the technology himself. While he left Fusion at death's door, Spider-Man saved the day one more time.
Otto's next plan involved kidnapping the Palestinian Foreign Minister and threated to cause a major international incident involving the US and the Middle East. He would let the politician live if Spider-Man would reveal his secret identity to the whole world; however, as always, Spider-Man would outsmart the villain and manage to prevent World War 3.

Miles Warren

He was a normal biology teacher at Empire State University and during this time he became an assistant to the High Evolutionary (a.k.a. Herbert Wyndham), a scientist who wishes to skip the next evolutionary step for humanity. Without Wyndham's approval, Warren creates an animal/human hybrid, when he learns of these secret experiments, Warren is exiled from Wundagore. The professor used his creations to test early incarnations of the Carrion virus. Among one of his creations was a jackal with a Jeckell/Hyde personality who escaped into civilization. While banished, Warren got married and had two children, but his obssession with science caused a rift between him and his family.

The rift wouldn't last as the jackal hybrid stalked him and killed Warren's family. Warren buries himself in work, and his life forever changes when he is introduced to two new ESU students, Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker.
Miles Warren would grow to have an extremely unhealthy fixation on Gwen. He grew jealous at Peter, who was dating Gwen at the time. When she died, Warren blamed Spider-Man for her death. Knowing that Parker had ties to the hero, he followed Peter, one day, hoping to find out what their relationship is, but instead he discovered that Peter is Spider-Man. He grew insane trying to get revenge on the hero. He succesfully cloned a human being, but his colleague Anthony Serba, disapproved of cloning of humans. Due to his madness, Warren killed Serba in cold blood, and with that, he finally became the Jackal. In order to finance his cloning experiments, Norman Osborn was secretly funding Warren's them by using the Scrier cabal to intimidate Warren. As the Jackal, he'd hire the Punisher, Tthe Grizzly, Tarantula, Scorpion, Hammerhead and others to take Spidey's life. They'd all fail. He cloned Spider-Man and Gwen Stacy (before she had died, Warren had a hair of both of them). The first clone he'd create of Peter, would be a failure, and later known as Kaine. That clone would then be abandoned by Warren. The clone of Gwen would be returned back to Peter in an attempt to screw with his mind. He'd kidnap Ned Leeds and have the two Spider-Men fight each other with Leeds's life hanging on the balance, after revealing that Gwen is nothing more than a clone. In the end, the Jackal consciousness came through and let Ned out of he trap, but not before giving up his own life in the process. However, this was not the real Miles Warren, as Warren cloned himself and went into a regeneration chamber to improve his DNA structure and make himself stronger. Peter's clone would survive the battle, but live a life outside of NYC.
Since this took many years, Warren's legacy got out of control, as the Carrion virus, infested inside an old discarded clone of himself, was unleashed years ahead of time. This clone came to believe that he was the real Warren, and wanted revenge on Parker. He would fail, and would be destroyed. Years later, Malcolm McBride, a student at ESU, would discover Warren's old lab and he would unleash the Carrion virus into himself. He became the Carrion, and he too wanted Spider-Man's head. He teamed up with the villianess Shriek, many times. They got very close, and she sacrificed her sanity to take away the virus within McBride.
The Jackal would return, and more insane than ever. He would play mind games with Peter and Ben, and he'd tell each of them that they are the real thing and the other is a clone. However, due to being manipulated by Osborn, he falsely believed that Ben was the real Peter; Osborn wanted Miles to focus all of his revenge plans towards Ben, while Osborn focuses on Peter. Warren would prepare for his ultimate goal, to turn every one on the planet into clones with the Carrion virus, which he obtained from Shriek by infiltrating the Ravencroft Institute. This was his endgame, and the purpose of the original Carrion, to unleash the virus. He almost succeeded, but he fall off a ledge and perish. Afterwards, a third Carrion host would be found after SHIELD was investigating Warren's dead body, but Spider-Man would stop it. The virus is currently being contained at SHIELD headquarters where they search for a cure.

Norman Osborn II

Born into a family of wealthy businessmen, Norman had a strange young life. When his father, Norman Osborn the First, lost the family business (possibly due to the depression of the 1930's), he blamed his wife and son. Young Norman was abused physically and verbally by his father. He would marry a woman named Emily whom he truly loved. While giving birth to their first and only child Harry, Emily died. As Harry grew, the troubled Norman Osborn used tough-love on what he perceived to be his "weak" son. When his wife died, it was devastating for him and Harry, but Norman became so involved with his work and it resulted in neglecting Harry many times, and also verbally lashing out at his son. He always believed that if everybody saw his son Harry with all the latest cars/clothes/trends, then all the kids would want to be an Osborn.

When Norman and business partner a brilliant scientist and robot expert named Mendel Stromm created Osborn Industries, a chemical plant, he wanted to gain complete control of the business. When he caught Stromm embezelling money, he saw a chance to acheive this goal; he had Stromm imprisonned for 10 years. The business flourished without Stromm, and making Osborn extremely wealthy. Later, Norman found out that Stromm was working on a formula which gave the user super-strength. To test out the formula, he had kidnapped one of his own security guards, Nels Van Adder, and forced him to take the chemical. It turned the innocent Nels into a monster named the Proto-Goblin. When George and Arthur Stacy came onto the scene to find out what happened, the monster escaped. Norman would find another, more advanced Stromm formula. While his father was working on that formula, Harry intervened and mixed some of the chemicals of the formula whcih ended up by litterarly blowing up in his father's face. This explosion exposed Norman to too much of the formula. What he didn't know was that he would slowly turn insane. The explosion would give him enhanced intelligence and strength, mental instability and a healing factor, something which would later prove to be an important point in his life.
Wanting to be a major force in the criminal underworld, Norman Osborn became the Green Goblin and hand-picked Spider-Man to 'prove his force' to NYC. At first, he hired the Headsman to eliminate Spider-Man, but he failed, so Norman decided to do it himself. He first officially encountered Spider-Man when he tricked him into making Spidey think that Hollywood was going to film a movie about him. The Goblin hired the villains known as the Enforcers to beat Spidey. After a run-in with the Hulk, Spidey defeated and captured the Enforcers, but the Goblin escaped. He would ally himself with the Crimemaster, but it would fail. However, in his previous encounters he learned of Spidey's powers and moves, which would prove important in the future.
When Stromm finally got out of jail, now calling himself the Robot Master and wanted revenge on Osborn. Stromm would use two robots to destroy Osborn's lab. He failed when Spider-Man interrupted. The combination of an explosion and Osborn attempting to kill him gave Stromm a heart attack, who seemingly died.
With the knowledge of his first fights with Spidey, the Goblin noticed that Spidey had a sixth sense which would warn him of danger, so the Goblin designed a formula which would negate Spidey's "spider-sense" for a period of time. With that, he would find out the secret identity of Spider-Man; the Goblin would discover that his enemy is Peter Parker, the close friend of his own son! The Goblin was obviously shocked and felt ashamed that he lost to a mere teenager. The Goblin captured Peter and revealed his secret identity to him. Peter would then go on to fight his enemy, and Osborn would come in contact with some live wires, which would knock Osborn out and give him partial amnesia. Spidey would burn Norman's Goblin gear so Norman wouldn't remember his past as the Goblin and Peter's double identity.
For a long time, Norman Osborn would live a normal life as head of Osborn industries. In fact, he'd even be nicer than before as Harry became the center of his life. He even payed the rent for an apartment in which Harry and Peter lived in. All was perfect in the life of Norman Osborn. But whenever exposed to great stress or memories of the Goblin, he would begin to remember his double-life.
When Harry was dating Mary Jane, she was in a play which took place at an Osborn owned theater, Norman felt sick and nervous. Then, his memories all started to come back to him. He then remembered that Peter was the web-slinger and waged war on Peter. It ended when Spidey took him to the hospital bed of Harry, Norman's good side came back, and he fell unconscious again.
With his son was sick from LSD after-effects and his business stock crashing, his mind snapped and turned into the Green Goblin once more. This time, he decided to kidnap Gwen Stacy. The Goblin would have her atop of the Brooklyn Bridge and he would knock an unconscious Gwen off the bridge and a flu stricken Spidey accidently snapped her neck, which killed her. Spidey would then proceed to lose it, and in battle he would come close to beating the Goblin to death, but he'd stop. With his senses coming back to him, he would sense the Goblin Glider coming to impale him, Spidey jumped out of the way and the glider killed the Goblin instead. Spidey would just leave the scene, but what he didn't know was that Harry followed them and took off his father's costume, in order to protect his family name, and he payed off the mortician to fake an autopsy.
For years, everyone thought he was dead, but they didn't know that he had healing powers given to him from Stromm's formula. Norman would then wake up in the morgue, kill a man with the same physical characteristics and replace his body with that one. Then he proceeded to go to his old one of his many hide-outs, but he'd find Harry there trying to avenge his father. Norman let his boy "become a man for once in his pitiful life", and Norman would move to Europe to build an empire over there.
From there, he'd watch over Peter and Harry's life like a hawk through secret agents. Norman would discover this ancient cabal called the Scrier Cabal; he would take over as leader. Osborn discovered about Miles Warren and was intrigued by his experiments to clone human beings. So he decided to fund Warren's experiments, by using the Scrier as an in-between. He'd add another pawn to his collection in Seward Trainer. Through Trainer, Osborn would have him rig the experiment to confuse the Jackal (Warren's alter ego) and make him believe that Ben Reilly was the real Peter Parker. This would allow Warren to focus all of his attention towards Ben, while Osborn can keep tabs on Peter.
One day, Osborn realized that perhaps Stromm himself had taken the formula. If he did, then he too must have the healing powers. So he dug up Stromm's body and found out that he was barely alive. Stromm reluctanly worked for his former employer once again, this time in exchange for a mechanical body which keep him alive. With Stromm's technological abilities, he'd make the Scriers act more mysterious, and they'd "vanish" and appear out of thin air.
Osborn would be infuriated at many things, such as the wedding of Peter and MJ, Harry failing to defeat Peter, the Hobgoblin stealing his own weapons, and many other things, but the thing that made him start his plan in full force was the death of his only son Harry. He wanted to crush Peter psychologically, and by chance, Ben Reilley decided to return to NYC. But it failed, instead of going crazy for ever, Peter befriended Ben and got even closer. He tried to bring up more confusion, but time after time, he'd fail. So he decided to do things his way. He would take everything away from Peter all in one night. He would kill off all of his friends, his "brother" and, to even the score, his child.
On Halloween, seven years after his 'death', Norman Osborn made his return to Spider-Man's life. He explained his story to Peter and Ben, and managed to force early labour upon Mary Jane which (possibly) caused a stillbirth. He'd only fail in killing his friends, but in the rest he was succesful. He'd disappear for a couple of months, and then, with the help of Jack O'Lantern II, return publicly for the first time in 7 years by owning one half of the Daily Bugle.
Norman also took over Osborn Industries away from Liz, who gained it after Harry's death. For months, he'd play mind games with Peter; Osborn gained public sympathy and trust when he hired someone to portray the Green Goblin to kidnap his own grandson. This would prove to the world that he wasn't the Goblin, as shown in Ben Urich's book. When Norman met the original Hobgoblin, he manged to amalgamate Kingsley Limited into Osborn Industries, thus making him far more richer and powerful.
Then he felt it was time to start his master plan. His plan was to design a DNA bomb in order to destroy everyone on Earth, but first he wanted to kill Spider-Man by himself. In order to do so, he found an ancient ceremony which would give the five participants one out of five powers; madness, death, power, immortality or knowledge. Osborn thought he had received power in the Gathering of Five, but it turned out that he had received madness instead.
When Alison Mongrain (the woman who apparently killed or kidnapped baby May) found Mary Jane's house, she told MJ that May was alive. She told this to Peter, and thinking that his baby girl was alive, went off to get his child back. He then discovered that Osborn had taken his aunt May away from him and that Osborn had faked her death. The intense fight caused the Daily Bugle to get ravaged. The end result was that Spider-Man would give up the super-hero biz. The Goblin was sent to prison, but the Scriers freed him from prison.
With his personal aid, and employee of Osborn Industries, Donald Menken helps cure Norman from the Madness. With a nurse named Kolina Frederickson, Norman gets better, but proceeds to fall in love with his nurse. He asks her to move in with him in one of his mansions. She accepts. There, Norman secretly plots Spider-Man's rebirth.
Looking for an apparent hair to the throne, Norman decides that it belongs not to Normie or Menken, but to Spdier-Man! He kidnaps the Wall-Crawler and try to make him 'fear the light'. He almost suceeds, but Peter overpowers him. Norman escapes, but he has the last laugh when he mentions how close he was to changing Spider-Man into The Green Goblin.
Norman Osborn begins plotting of whole new ways to torture his arch-nemesis. He approaches Flash Thompson once again, but this time he forces him to get drunk and puts him behind the wheel of a car which crashes into Mid-Town High. At the same time, the Goblin releases a video tape in which he explains that Spider-Man killed Gwen Stacy, and not him. This of course, gets under Spidey's skin even further. In the end, Norman fails to beat Spidey and is talked into submission. However, the Goblin manages to escape.

Before the Vulture killed him, he was the fiancé of May. The Vulture needed a "bait" to distract Spidey, so he took the first person who he saw, aunt May, but Lubensky fought him off, and the villain flew away with the old man. Lubensky would have a heart attack of being so high in the air. He was a man who had his troubles with gambling.

At a retirement home, he'd meet a depressed Vulture. Lubensky would "put life" into him and, indirectly, bring Andrian Toomes back to a life of crime as the Vulture (and his death later on).

Seward Trainer

A talented scientist who was Miles Warren second lab assistant. When he found out about what Warren had done to Anthony Serba, Seward deared Warren and tried to debunk Miles's project, but a Scrier would prevent him from doing so. Scrier would blackmail Seward by saying that Scrier won't tell any of this to Warren if Seward accept to do whatever the Scrier says. Thus he was another puppet included in Norman Osborn's plot to destroy Spider-Man. The Scrier told Seward to rig a machine that the Jackal would use later, that would tell him the difference between human and clone. Osborn wanted the Jackal to be confused. So the Scriers told Seward to follow Ben around the country and to befriend him and gain his trust.

This would all happen. When Ben went back to NY, he called Seward to go follow him. During this time, Seward would really come to like Ben, and would HATE that he has to follow orders from Scrier. The Scriers would want Trainer to rig an experiment that Ben and Peter would conduct to tell the difference between human and clone, like he did with Warren before. Osborn wanted Peter (who he knew was the real thing) to self-destruct, but that didn't happen. When Seward's mind would be lost in cyber-space, Ben would have to fight Doc Ock II to save it, which he did. When he would come back, a small Osborn subsidiary called Multivex would take him away. Seward would then see that Gaunt was sort of telling the Scriers what do, but he didn't know that Osborn was the true mastermind. Seward would the have to rebuild a new body for Gaunt, and he even remade the Hobgoblin (Macendale) in a cybernetic new Hobgoblin. When Seward would find out that Norman Osborn is the head of this entire operation, he'd try to get into contact with Peter or Ben, but Osborn would kill him.

Felicia Hardy

Also known as the reformed super-hero called the Black Cat, young Felicia Hardy had a father who was a cat burglar and a gymnast as a mother. She learned martial arts, and along with her gymnastic history, she was ready to follow in her imprisonned father's footsteps. After finding out that her father Walter is dying of cancer, Felicia attempt to break him out of prison as the Black Cat. Spider-Man fails to put Walter back in prison, but he manages to make an impression on the Black Cat. So much so that she wants wants to reform with the help of Spider-Man, her new love interest.

Later on when Mary Jane left Peter's life for a while, Felicia became Peter's prime love interest. But she was more interested in Spider-Man, than in Peter Parker. She went to the Kingpin and he'd give her powers (so Spidey wouldn't have to worry about her getting into trouble). But what the Kingpin revealed to her is that she has "bad luck" powers which would affect everyone she's near too. When Spidey would find out about these powers, he would have Dr. Strange take them off at a most innappropriate time for the Black Cat (during a middle of a fight). This would all drive a wedge in their relationship. She would leave Peter, and during that time, he would go back to Mary Jane, and eventually he'd propose to her to which she would obviously accept. When Felicia returned to New York, she'd discover this and, to get back at Peter, she would start dating Flash Thompson, Peter's best friend. She would plan to date him and dump him pretty harshly. But she'd end up falling for him, and he'd fall for her. They would break up later on when he tells her that he always knew that she was the reformed villain. She would apologize to Peter for acting that way, and they would become good friends (and an ally when Peter needs it). She is currently a private investigator with her own business.

Eugene "Flash" Thompson

The Big Man On Campus (and the President of the Spider-Man Fan Club) has lived a troubled life. His father was an alcoholic and who abused him and Flash's mom and sister). This would cause him to take out his frustrations on people like Peter Parker during High School. He was the most popular kid in school with the looks, the charisma and the athletics. He hung around with Liz Allan and all the other cool kids. When he chose to fight Peter in a boxing ring to settle a conflict, Peter knocked him out, and that helped silence Flash for quite some time. Then he'd get into ESU based only on his football skills, and later found out, much to his chagrin, that nemisis Peter was going there too. Instead of continuing with his football scholarship, Flash decided to go out a do his civil duty and fight in the war in Vietnam. There he would meet his longtime future girlfriend Sha-Shan. He'd bring her overseas once the war is over.

Like many soldiers of war, Flash would have big problems readjusting to society once he came back to NYC. He felt ostracized and that he missed out on a lot while everyone else was at home. Later on, he would have an affair with Betty Brant, which Sha-Shan would find out, which would cause even more problems for the ex-football star. When his girlfriend would be taken hostage by the Hobgoblin, Flash would go on TV and publicly bash the Hobgoblin. This would infuriate the Hobgoblin, and he would have the Hobgoblin getting caught by Spider-Man, but under the mask, the hero would find Flash Thompson. Flash was framed, but after some time, all of was cleared up as Eugene was pardonned. During all of this time, Peter and Flash would become very close friends, and he would even become Peter's Best Man at his wedding.
From there, he'd date Felicia Hardy, however her main reason for doing so was to annoy Peter and get back at him for breaking up with her. But she started to fall for the former football star. Despite a long relationship, the two broke it off in a friendly manner. From there, Flash would realize that life doesn't offer too much to him and that no matter how popular you were in high school, it doesn't mean anything in real life. He would start drinking to forget his troubles.
After nearly killing a child while driving drunk, Flash decided to join a treatment program. Norman Osborn found out about this, and said that he likes the courage of Flash to realize his mistake and to do something about it. So Osborn made Flash his personal assistant. Flash truly believed that Osborn wasn't the Goblin and that he was a great guy (yet, he remained a Spidey fan). Mysterio III captures Peter, MJ, aunt May, JJJ, Marla Jamseon, Robbie and Flash and puts them all in a VR tank which is the perfect opportunity to find out Spider-Man's true identity. Using Flash, Flash's ideal world comes to life, but Peter talks him out of the world and they all 'come back to reality'. Mysterio, before escaping, tells Flash that his entire life has been pitiful. When they all 'wake up', Flash tells them to leave him alone and that he doesn't need anyone anymore, even Spider-Man. Later, Flash would break up with Betty. When Norman Osborn would return to get revenge on Spider-Man, he uses Flash as a pawn in his game. He hires Thompson as a truck driver, but forces him to get drunk and drive it through Peter's classroom at Mid-Town High. As a result, he is in a coma and has massive brain damage. He is in the custody and care of Peter Parker, who feels incredibly guilty for his condition.

Harry Osborn

Harry's had a tough life. When his mother died, his father Norman had to be the single parent, mother and head of an entire industry. Harry often got neglected, and he never (or rarely) received any love from his father. Despite all of that, Harry still worshipped his father. When Norman was doing some experimenting on Mendell Stromm's power formula, Harry, as a very young child, accidently mixed up some ingredients, which caused the explosion that permitted Norman to turn into the Green Goblin. As a teenager, he'd befriend Gwen Stacy. He'd enter Empire State University where he would meet Flash Thompson and Peter Parker for the first time. He'd quickly befriend Flash, and start to annoy Pete, but when Harry starts having 'heart-to-heart' conversations about his past with Peter, they would quickly develop into best friends. Later on, Norman would pay rent for an apartment for Peter and Harry in Manhattan when the two are in college.

Harry would try to catch Mary Jane's attention sine he was very interested in her. They would become a couple, but in the end, they'd break up, because she wasn't really interested in Harry. She really had her eye on Peter (who was dating Gwen, at the time). Harry, wanting to forget about his deep love for Mary Jane, took LSD. The day that Norman "died", he'd follow Peter to one of his father's wharehouses, and he'd take off the GG costume off of his father in order to save the 'Osborn' name. When Peter was taking a shower, Harry would find Peter's Spidey costume and he'd discover his best friend's secret. He'd become the Green Goblin to attempt to avenge his father's death. He would be defeated by Spidey and sent to prison. There, Harry would then have periods of amnesia that blocked out his Goblin ID, but they always kept ressurfacing. Harry would see a psychiatrist, Bart Hamilton. Bart would use hypnosis to help Harry get on with life but what he would discover was the dark secret of the Osborn family, and the true identity of Spider-Man. Hamilton would learn all about GG's hide-outs and weapons, thus he will become the 3rd Goblin. It did not last as he was killed in a battle with Spidey. But the end result of that, was Harry being knocking unconscious which would erase all his knowledge of ever being the Goblin (or his father being the villain) and the identity of Spider-Man.
Harry would then live a normal life for a long time since he doesn't remember that Peter is Spider-Man, his father was the Goblin or even that he was the Goblin. He'd take over his father's business, Osborn Industries. He'd marry Liz Allan and she would give birth to their only son, Norman Osborn. During Inferno, when his family is in danger from the Hobgoblin (Jason Macendale), he was forced to dawn his father's Green Goblin costume. This time as a good guy. Harry would then try to redeem his father's name by becoming a super-hero, but Spidey would convince him to do otherwise. Shortly thereafter, he'd start to get visions of his father telling him to become "more of a man". His mind would snap. He would become the Goblin once more, this time as a villain. He couldn't manage to kill Peter. Harry was furious at that, and left. When they would next meet, Harry would have had tested his new and improved Goblin formula. Somwhere around that time, he would hire the Chameleon to build robots of Richard and Mary Parker, who would supposed to find out Spidey's secret ID, but Harry would do this only to infuriate Peter. Harry would then be put in the Vault (a prison for super-heroes). Harry would get out of the Vault. But when he'd return, his plan to kill Spider-Man, failed when he realized that he couldn't kill Peter, no matter what. He saved Peter's life, but the serum that Harry took ended up by killing him.

Paul Stacy

The son of Arthur Stacy is an ESU student who is the only member of the Stacy family who doesn't like Peter. He is Peter's tutor, and he takes every opprotunity he gets to insult Peter publically. He hates Spider-Man very much and blames him for the death of his uncle and cousin. During the summer of 98, he started to act more and more aggressive, which led to him being a suspect, among internet fans, to being the 5th Green Goblin who works for Norman Osborn.

If he was the fifth GG, the reason for his aggressive attitude would be due to the Winkler device that Roderick Kinglsey used on Ned Leeds (who also got more aggressive once he was mind-controlled), but it hasen't been revealed. He moved out of his father's house, because he felt Jill was "spying on him" too much. He pursuaded the Tri-Corp position along with Peter, but lost the job to Peter, which makes him even more bitter at him.

Arthur Stacy

He is the brother of George Stacy. Has two children; Jill and Paul. He used to work as the head security guard at Osborn Industries (right before Osborn took the Goblin serum). From there, he would relocate his entire family to England and then, Japan. During that time, he would become a member of SHIELD along with the man named The Ranger and future US Senator Stewart Ward (Arthur "stole" Ward's love from him). They would have a mission where they would have to infiltrate HYDRA and steal an important alien virus.

Ward would betray them, but would be infected by the virus. From there, he would return to New York to find out more about the connection between Spider-Man and his family members. At first, he would condemn the hero, but later he'd learn to trust the hero. He'd even help Spidey clear his name in the murder of street thug Joey Z. He seems to know something about the past of Senator Stewart Ward. He also harbours some sort of grudge against Ward. During a conversation with the Senator, they are interrupted by Bullseye who was hired by Wilson Fisk to kill both of them. Spidey intervened and Stacy is badly injured in the fight between Spidey and Bullseye. Arthur has taken his private war against Ward to new heights when he secludes himself from his children and tries to assasinate Ward. He fails at his mission when Spidey intervenes. Nick Katzenberg

When he was alive, this guy was probably Peter Parker's worst enemy. Nick was a photographer who completely did his best to bury Peter as top photographer at the Bugle. He got a job at the famous paper when he only shot anti-Spidey pictures rather than the pro-Spidey ones that Peter shot.

This made him a favorite in the eyes of JJJ. Everyone at the Bugle hated him, even JJJ did (because he took pictures of Robbie going to jail, which JJJ didn't want), yet he still had a job there since his pictures were good. He shot a picture of criminal meetings, but when the paper came out, there was a misprint; the paper wrote that Peter had taken the picture. Luckily for Nick, Peter and his family was targeted for death by the mob. The Bugle would admit that they made a mistake, and Nick was now targeted for death. Spidey managed to save him from the Hobgoblin. Due to his constant smoking, Nick was diagnosed with lung cancer, which would ultimately kill him.

Leeds asked to borrow the notes (while brainwashed) so he can give them to the Hobgoblin, who'd use that information to his advantage. When Onsluaght attacked and destroyed most of the Bugle, due to cutbacks he was fired, this resulted in him becoming the Rose. He is currently in prison.

Phil Urich

The nephew of Ben Urich is a Daily Bugle intern who stumbled upon one of Harry Osborn's Goblin hide-outs by accident. To save the life of his uncle, he put on a Green Goblin costume that Harry had designed either for his son before his own death. The costume gave Phil the powers he need, instead of taking the Goblin formula.

Phil Urich would become the 4th Green Goblin, except for this time he'd become a super-hero. Gaunt would hire Arcade to test out Phil's abilities (to make sure that he isn't much of a threat to Norman Osborn). Phil's career as the Goblin would come to an end during "Onslaught" when his costume would wind up by getting destroyed by a Sentinel.

Ben Urich

The Bugle's Pulitzer Prize winning investigative reporter wrote the book called "The Dynasty of Evil" about the documentation and the history of the Green Goblin and the Osborn family. In the book, he reveals that Norman Osborn and the Goblin were the same person; a fact that was not public knowledge until the book's release. He is also a close friend to Matt Murdoch (a.k.a. Daredevil), and is one of his most valuable allies. He was one of the first who knew that Murdoch is Daredevil, that is until it was revealed to the whole world. He's an ally of Peter who helps him with information whenever he needs it.

When Norman Osborn purchased one-half of the Bugle in an attempt to destroy Peter's life years later, he forced Urich to denounce the whole novel. Currently, he is still doing what he does best; being an investigative reporter for the Bugle. However, his career has recently hit a roadblock. After revealing to JJJ that he had known Daredevil's scret identity for years, JJJ managed to stick Urich on little stories in spite. Yet, pressured with low-sales, JJJ comes to the conclusion that his paper is too biased so he recreuits retired super-hero Jessica Jones saves the life of a family friend and Urich to give a more inside-look at the world of super-heroes, called 'The Pulse'. In their first story, the duo decide to take down Norman Osborn, after the disappearance of a co-worker. Edward 'Ned' Leeds

When he was alive, Ned Leeds was one of the Bugle's top reporters. He became a crime-reporter once Frederick Foswell was killed saving JJJ's life. After a long engagement, he married former JJJ secretary Betty Brant. Ned Leeds knew Richard Fisk (a.k.a. the first Rose). JJJ would assign him to follow the Hobgoblin and have him discover the identity of the villain.

But Roderick Kingsley (the Hobgoblin) found about this and had Ned brainwahsed with the Winkler device. The device would make Leeds turn into a more agressive person (which would explain his anger towards people like Peter, Betty and Flash). Kingsley would have Ned "play" the Hobgolbin at some times, but when Kinglsey grew tired of being the Goblin, he decided to "retire". Kingsley would have problems with the first Jack 'O Lantern (Jason Macendale) at that time. When MacenDale would discover that Ned is the Hobgoblin and he would have Ned killed in Germany while he was wearing the Hobgoblin costume. Kingsley secluded himself to Europe and Macendale would become the new Hobgoblin. Kingsley later confessed to this to Betty and the Daily Bugle.

Betty Brant Leeds

Being raised by a single parent, Betty had to drop out of High School to take care of her sick mother's, who was rendered in a coma at the hands of loan sharks in search of Betty's brotehr Bennett. She took her job at the Daily Bugle as secretary of JJJ. There, she met the young new photographer Peter Parker. She would become Peter's first girlfriend. Betty had a soft spot for Peter because she saw that he only wanted the job for the money and to take care of his aunt. But due to a previous bad experience, Betty feared that Peter might be reckless and that he might die while taking pictures of Spider-Man.

This caused a rift between the two. Also, Liz Allan would develop a crush on Peter, and would want to spend more time with her classmate. This would infuriate Betty. Later, when Bennett died at the hands of a Spidey-Ock fight, Betty blamed Spider-Man for her brother's death. Peter's secret identity would drive the two apart. From there, she'd remain friend's with Peter, but she'd date fellow Bugle employee, and star reporter, Edward 'Ned' Leeds. Betty would later marry Ned after several months of dating. During the time Ned was being controlled by the Hobgoblin, he became more and more aggressive. This also caused Betty to have an affair with Flash Thompson. When Ned would die, Betty would start to lose it; she'd even join a cult, and started thinking that Ned was still alive. In the end, she'd get over all of that. From the time Ned died and the return of Norman Osborn, Betty left her post as secretary and become a reporter. Her relationship with Flash's friendship had been a rocky one, and, at times, she really didn't like speaking to him at all. Eventually, she would decide to help Flash overcome his alcohol abuse problem. The two would get close to each other, but after many months together, she would dump Flash due to his poor attitude. She still is a reporter for the Bugle.

Joseph "Robbie" Robertson

The Editor of the Daily Bugle is a loving father of one son, Randy, and who enjoys his life with wife Martha. Robbie is the heart and soul of the Bugle, he wants the paper to be unbiased (unlike the anti-Spidey headlines that JJJ does). He is the one of the few who can calm down JJJ (Martha Jameson being the other) - he probably is JJJ's best friend. In high school he was bullied by Lonnie Lincoln (later known as mobster Tombstone) and later he would be a witness to one of Lincoln's murders. By failing to report his information to the police, he would be sent to prison for 3 years many years later.

But a pardon would take him out of jail. During this time, Tombstone would return to Robbie's life by breaking his back. But Robbie would take part in the capture of Tombstone. After a few brushes with death and the recent acquisition of the Bugle by Osborn, Martha convinced Robbie to quit his job. Robbie would go to Greece with Martha. There Robbie would talk with an unknown man and he'd discover that Alison Mongrain works for Osborn. When Mongrain's boat would explode (due to the Scriers), he'd got to the hospital to search for her, but she'd be gone. He'd chase her from Europe to all the way back to NY. It is unknown if Robbie's trip to Greece was a coincidence where he stumbled upon information by accident or it was all a planned attempt to get information that would take down Osborn. He is currently back as Editor of Bugle. Robbie has, possibly, always suspected that Peter is/was Spider-Man.

J. Jonah Jameson

The owner if the Daily Bugle and it's publisher is a well-respected journalist who has a lot of pull in NYC, but he uses his paper to continue his personal vendetta against Spider-Man. He was once married to a woman named Joan, but she passed away. He later remarried a scientist by the name of Marla Madison. Since Spider-Man was in show-business and later became known as a hero, JJJ has believed that the hero is a glory hound who wants nothing more than good publicity. Even early in Spider-Man's career, the Web-Slinger saved JJJ's son John on a space mission gone wrong.

JJJ hated him even more for overshadowing his son in the news. One of JJJ's greatest shames is that he secretly funded the experiment that created the villain known as Scorpion. JJJ told only told this to Norman Osborn, who wrote it down in his journals. He never told anybody else. When those journals where found by the Hobgoblin, he wanted to use blackmail to get money, in exchange he won't leak all the secrets to the public. With that, JJJ decided to write an editorial in the paper which admits that he had part in the creation of the villain. In that editorial, JJJ stepped down as Editor-in-Cheif and gave it to long-time friend Robbie Robertson. JJJ is also responsible for the creation of another villain, Spencer Smyther; the Spider-Slayer, and via default, his son Alistair Smythe.
Despite the fact Spidey has saved his life (and his family's life) countless of times, he STILL claims to hate him. He may act like he is a penny-pincher who hates everyone who works for him, but he really cares for them. For example when Peter would be accused of being a serial killer, JJJ would hire the best attourney for Peter. He feels close to Peter, as if he were his son. When Jack 'O Lantern II would threaten to harm Marla and John if JJJ didn't sell over half of the Bugle to Norman Osborn, JJJ forcefully sold it. After spending months of comtemplating to kill Norman, he couldn't make himself to pull the trigger. This made JJJ feel weak, but then Spidey came and interrupted them and he felt that Spidey came there to gloat about how he couldn't kill Osborn. A few days later, when the Goblin and Spidey are fighting, the Bugle gets destroyed and JJJ blames Spidey for the destruction of his building. Due to Norman's disappearance, JJJ retakes his position at the top of the Daily Bugle as sole owner. A few months later, when a close friends' daughter, Martha Franklin (Spider-Woman III) runs away from home, JJJ and Marla takes her in. She would runaway from her caretakers and wind up in a lot of trouble.
